An Open Letter to Comic Book Creators
from Erik Larsen

What have you done, which is really yours? What characters will you leave behind? What can you point to as being something near and dear to your heart? What work are you most proud of?

9/28/05 ~ Post Potter Depression

I finished the sixth book last night. Done. I moved through the entire series, one after the other, and now I'm going through withdrawal. Have to wait for the final book, bide my time like everyone else-- watch the movies, the documentaries, listen to the audiobooks, browse the websites, write bad fan fiction, and quietly suffer, pondering how it all shall end.

9/27/95 ~ Josh Howard reloaded

Josh's official website has undergone a blog-styled makeover. (click here) Lots of great content and frequent updates-- for instance, some good news for Dead@17 fans.

9/23/05 ~ Harry Potter on the brain

Sorry I haven't updated in a few days. With Karma Incorporated in stores, Emily Edison moving along nicely, I've taken a short break to indulge in the Harry Potter series. Melissa has been a huge fan for years, and I finally committed to reading it. I began about a month ago, and I'm now reading the most recent book. I've been averaging about 100 pages a day-- really enjoying it. J.K. Rowling is amazing.

Once I finish Half-Blood Prince, I need to get back to work. I have some new projects floating around in my head. Searching for artists for some already completed projects. Need to update "Let's Get Lost". Plus, some quixotic aspirations to try a novel?

9/18/05 ~ American Splendor

Today, I had the privilege to speak with Harvey Pekar. Scott, Oliver, and I interviewed him for Fanboy Radio Episode #258, the September Indie Show. This episode will air on Wednesday. It came as a last minute opportunity, as I was desperately searching for a third guest and figured "what the hell?" Lo and behold, I found his number and gave him a call. Not only that, we had a great interview with two of the most talented people in alternative comics-- Jessica Abel and Matt Madden. Definately, a do-not-miss hour of Fanboy Radio.

Also, congratulations to Javi for Lost's Emmy win. I was very happy to see you so happy on that stage. Awesome!

And finally, check out Derek Ash's review of Karma Incorporated #2 (click here). He gave it a rating of 3.5 of 5. The first issue got a 2.5. So... I'm thinking for the next issue... a 4.5? I certainly appreciate anyone who takes the time to read our work and offer thoughtful review.

By the way, audio commentary for issue two coming soon.

9/16/05 ~ From the Onion

Search For Self Called Off After 38 Years
CHICAGO -- The longtime search for self conducted by area man Andrew Speth was called off this week, the 38-year-old said Monday.

"I always thought that if I kept searching and exploring, I'd discover who I truly was," said Speth from his Wrigleyville efficiency. "Well, I looked deep into the innermost recesses of my soul, I plumbed the depths of my subconscious, and you know what I found? An empty, windowless room the size of an aircraft hangar. From now on, if anybody needs me, I'll be sprawled out on this couch drinking black-cherry soda and watching Law & Order like everybody else."

9/15/05 ~ Dallas Comic Con

Check it out! I was added to the guest list for the upcoming Dallas Comic Con. I'm really looking forward to this.

The event will be on October 15th-16th. The Dallas Comic Con has some great guests lined up. On the comic book side, I'm particularly looking forward to Terry Moore. **Fanboy Radio will also have a booth.** On the media side, Melissa and I are most excited about Sunday. Adam Baldwin (Jayne from Firefly and Serenity) will be there.

9/13/05 ~ dEUS returns

Buying the first issue is obligation. Buying the second? That's true love.

9/6/05 ~ Jayne hat

Yesterday, Melissa knitted her first "Jayne hat" (click here for a photo of the proud moment). Now, she's working on my hat, which will require a bit more thread. We're almost ready for the Serenity premiere, September 30th.

Want your very own Jayne hat, hand-made by the lovely Melissa? Send her an e-mail-- melissahopkins AT gmail DOT com-- and she'll get back to you about price and other details.

It's Parents' Day at Camp Enokchuk! After a day of embarrassing stories, Eric and the campers believe it can't get any worse, but a horrible surprise awaits them - a giant purple primate bent on destroying the camp! Who's controlling the animated ape? Why it's Goat, of course! (forum)

Robbi was kind enough to give Kennedy and me a small cameo! Thanks!

Thank you to everyone who came by the signing at Zeus Comics yesterday. It was a huge success. I was overwhelmed by your support. Thank you. It was particularly exciting to meet people who had already read issue one, loved it, and came back for the next chapter.

For people living in Dallas, Zeus still has free copies of issue two available (with a $10 purchase) while supplies last. Brock did some great sketches, and I enjoyed hanging out with him. Richard and Barry are the best store managers.
